Old Friends with New Habits

First Photo: Michelle (Me), Paula and Sarah (Ready to Start Fitness Bootcamp)

Second Photo: Sarah, Paula, Michelle (Me) (A little healthy competition between friends - check out our bionic arms and my left foot - the camera couldn't even focus)

I've been friends with Paula for 15 years and Sarah for 20 years. We had NEVER exercised together until 2 years ago... when we all joined Fitness Bootcamp.

Even though we've been great friends for a very long time... unfortunately as the years passed... we rarely saw each other. There is no question that life gets busy... we all were into our own grove with our careers and family commitments... but we didn't conciously make time to stay in touch regularly with each other either. Now that we all go to fitness bootcamp together we have the opportunity to see each other twice a week to catch up, support each other in growing old gracefully (if that is possible) and most importantly laugh a lot and have fun (while getting our butts kicked into shape).

Over the last year... I've tried to make a conscious effort to get together with each of these ladies at least once a month (outside of our regular workouts)... because to be honest... in the past they were kind of "out of sight out of mind" (just like so many other people I enjoy spending time with but just don't see often enough). I'm happy to say that now that we've reconnected via fitness bootcamp that we are all a regular and important part of each other's lives again.

A few years ago, both Paula and Sarah lost the additional weight they had been carrying around in their mid 20s... neither of them realize it but their weight loss achievement had a big impact on getting me started on improving my lifestyle. Their success helped me to see that it was time that I took control of my spiralling weight gain and start to work out too.

It feels great to workout with friends that have been with you literally through thick and thin. Hard to believe we used to consume carbs and chase bad boys together... now we exercise instead (it's a more productive use of our time)!
