Put some junk in your trunk!

For my loyal readers you know I never thought I'd be a jogger. Actually, I made every excuse under the sun on why people shouldn't jog. But... if you really want to put some junk in your trunk ... start jogging!
In my lifetime of being overweight, I've tried every possible exercise and diet under the sun, but it wasn't until I started jogging in August that I really saw significant results in my weight loss and improved my body shape. I've experienced some serious shrinkage on my entire body except for my butt (well respected bootilogists have assessed my booty and confirm it's round and fabulous)! I've never liked my butt (it was pointy)... now I'm encouraging friends to feel it because I can't believe how round it is (the booby and booty bounce was a very popular party trick for me over the holidays)!
Seriously though... it was a daunting task for me to start jogging... and it took time to get my endurance up. The first time I went out for interval training, after 30 seconds I thought I might die (no joke I'm glad I had my cell phone on me incase I needed to call 911). Regardless of the lack of oxygen, we somehow managed to pushed it to 60 seconds but it was BRUTAL! Then we'd walk 1-2 minutes to recuperate and then start another 60 second jog again. We'd do this for about 30 minutes. Within a month or so, we had built up to running 2 minutes, then eventually hit 3 minutes. Unfortunately, the winter weather started and I had to move my jogging inside. This is where my solo mission began and I wasn't happy about it... to be honest I thought my jogging might have to stop until Spring. But I decided to make an interval program on my treadmill. Now I run 5 days a week for 48 minutes like this:
4 min - 5.3mph at level 4 (jogging segment)
4 min - 2.5mph at level 4 (walking segment)
This is a nice steady jog, it's by no means cheetah speed but you get a good sweat and fabulous cardio workout.
Devin has always been encouraging me to do intervals for fat burning... so what he says... I do (without question). Though ideally I would like to just do a 1 minute walk then 4 minute run (like he suggests), but my treadmill won't allow me to do uneven segments and I don't want to have to manually change it constantly so I figure 4 and 4 are better than nothing.
My heart rate usually builds up to 175-180 beats during the jogging and then drops down to about 120-130 beats during the walk. It's the recovery and spiking that help burn the fat... so I'm all about intervals if it will burn fat!
I might make a new program soon that is shorter and more intense just to change it up. Gina sent me a crazy hard interval training program to try... she told me even my eyeballs will sweat... I can't wait to try it.
Monday, after a weekend of partying... I had a hard run. My body was obviously trying to cleanse the toxins and not impressed by the lack of quality fuel I had fed it on cheat day... but the last couple of segments I kept myself going by reminding myself how much easier it is to run now that I'm 50lbs lighter since starting interval training in August. After my jog, I got off the treadmill and picked up 2 x 25lb weights. I couldn't believe that I used to run with that much extra weight... I can only imagine when I loose the rest of my weight how easy running will seem.
In 5 months, I've gone down 6 clothing sizes by jogging intervals, attending bootcamp and eating healthy! For those of you just starting a new regime, imagine where you can be by Spring if you keep it up!

Amazing - that's the only word that comes to mind when I think of you!!! You rock girlfriend!
