The Human Transformer (from Sloth to Cheetah)

This shirt design was inspired by runners high!

When picking up my boys from daycare this week, I had two different parents stop me and ask what I've been doing to lose so much weight. How can I answer that question quickly? It's impossible...

Really this is what I did:

-eat healthy
-bootcamp
-train with Devin and Gina
-hot yoga
-run 5 times a week

Then there is the psychological and physiological aspect of realizing I deserve and need to make time to exercise... get over feeling guilty that I dedicate up to 2 hours a day to improving my health... becoming accountable to myself... learning to push myself (even when my trainer isn't there)... the list goes on.

Due to time restraints and being surrounded by a bunch of hyper pre-schoolers... I decided to pick a one word answer for both parents, I told them "running". Both parents responded exactly the same... "Oh, I could never do that!" I can relate to their reaction, because for years I said the same thing. The most important thing that I've learned in transforming my life is that you really need to want to make the change for yourself and believe you will do it this time!

A number of you have sent me private messages asking how I do interval training, etc. In November, I had offered to show a couple of you but then the snow came before we made it out. Well... I suspect I'll be back to running outside by next week... so I'm putting the general offer out there. Anyone that wants to try intervals next weekend (April 11-12)... first thing in the morning (either Saturday or Sunday works for me)... I'll meet you somewhere and show you how I got started. Send me a private message and we'll figure out the location etc.

We'll start on a flat area, we'll run 1 minute, walk 1 minute etc. If you don't feel like you are going to throw-up after 1 minute... then we'll increase it until you feel that you are being pushed in the run portion where the last 15 seconds are completely agony... that is the benchmark we'll work with. The biggest thing with intervals is having the desire to push yourself beyond the point of comfort. Both speed and length of interval... or that's what worked for me anyway. If there are a few of you, maybe you'll find your own workout buddy in the group. I know having a workout buddy really helped me with continuing to run... because at first... it isn't that fun to be gasping for oxygen... but eventually you won't feel that way (I promise).

If you want to see the interval training on the treadmill... I can show you that too... but honestly... with the nice weather coming... start doing intervals outside so you get the fresh air and dose of Vitamin D!

I promise... it won't take long until you become an adrenaline junkie too!
