Changing it up...
It's been a month on this plateau with no weight loss... (still 90lbs off and holding). To be honest... it gets a bit discouraging (I'd be lying if I said it wasn't... but I know it's normal because 30lbs ago I went through the exact same thing)... so I've decided... it's time to hide the scale again (thanks G-Unit aka Gord) but I've continued to work out 7 times a week... 2 weeks ago I even took it up a notch with the jogging at more intense intervals (speed of 6.0 or 6.5 miles per hour instead of 5.5)... still no weight loss. I know I'm losing inches, but when it comes to progress the doctors don't seem impressed... (which drives me INSANE)... if I hear the acronym BMI one more time, I may snap! *smiles*
To try and change things up a bit, this week I decided to reduce my cardio to 36 mins from 48 mins (5 times a week) and incorporate P90X on my non-bootcamp days right after my cardio. Today was the first day. I worked chest, back and abs.
I've never been a huge fan of workout videos (3 more... now 2 more... 1 more... you did it *horray* now take it to the right and 10, 9, 8...)... but of course when I first started jogging I wasn't a fan of that either... so I'm going to at least try P90X for the week before making judgement and then decide if it's something I'd enjoy doing or not. My brother and a good friend of mine (Kevin Murphy) have been doing P90X for over a month and are hooked... I'm hoping I buy into the hype eventually too. My girlfriend Lauren is starting P90X this week too (right Lauren?)... helps to have a buddy starting a new routine at the same time.
There is no doubt P90X is definitely was a difficult workout. The Ab Ripper X killed me... even worse then Devin... which I didn't think was possible... because bootcamp abs are brutal on a good day!
In addition to hopefully shocking my metabolism, the other desired benefit of incorporating the P90X into my routine is to build some muscle definition. Jogging does make you a lean mean fighting machine... but it doesn't really give you the pipes like booty sista Paula... and lets be honest... we all want pipes like her!

You should see Paula rip up push-ups... it's sick! Paula is doing P90X too (but she was already a machine - this is a pre-P90X photo)!

Thanks Neil... that's the goal burn more fat... it's funny the trainer on the P90X intro said that women typically prefer cardio workouts... that is SOOOOOOOO me... anyway I know weight training is something that needs to be done... I can't go around with this saucy haircut that your little lady spent so much time creating and not have the body to match! hahaha
