Weight Training... I HATE IT... BUT I LOVE IT!
With 30lbs left to go... we've decided to change things up to break this plateau. I've finally committed to doing weight training again (even though I hate it - ok hate is a strong word - lets just say - I don't look forward to it). At first... I was going to try P90X at home on Tuesdays and Thursdays but to be honest... though I admit it's a really hard work-out... I find the people on the videos annoying. Maybe if I watched the video on mute it might be easier to handle but anyway I just can't get into the P90X grove (but I did try). After a week of not finding the willpower to press play on the DVD player... I decided the only way to incorporate the weight training is to do it at Devin and Gina's gym.
Tuesdays, Devin trains me on weights and then on Thursdays I'm Gina's workout partner (doing weights). Yesterday, was my first time back in their gym. When I arrived at the 360 gym, Devin had a huge grin on his face and said "You are going to totally hate me tomorrow." I laughed... but this morning at 5am when I woke up (with every muscle in my body aching)... the first thought that crossed my mind was... "Yes Devin... I do hate you!"
It was rough getting the twins ready for daycare today, though they were two little tornadoes of energy, I moved in slow motion like a tortoise. I knew after I dropped them off, I had to do my cardio (I could have easily talked myself out of it... but I knew I had to do it... and I knew I'd be disappointed in myself if I didn't). On cardio days, I try to choose different programs on my treadmill to keep things fresh. This morning, I was so achy, I honestly wasn't sure if I'd be able to do the sprints so I opted for a 24 minute power walk instead. It burns the same calories, but has less impact (which is a good thing – especially when you are sore to begin with). I couldn't believe how much the power walk helped my aching muscles. With about 16 minutes into my walk, I decided that I needed a little adrenaline rush... so I ended up adding an extra 12 minutes of sprints onto the end of the power walk just to get that adrenaline high.
My shoulders and neck are still a bit tight from the weight training... but I'm sure bootcamp tonight will work out the rest of the kinks... well I sure I hope so... because I'm scheduled to train with Gina tomorrow... and that woman is a machine!
