Losing Stephanie (figuratively speaking of course)!
Stef aka "Lil' Mama" and Michelle aka "DJ Curves" (formerly known by her homeboys as "Snow White" and "SWG")Today our good friends Stef and Kev came over for dinner. We realized that by the time I reach my goal, I will have lost the equivalent of Stephanie's entire body weight (actually maybe 10 pounds more)! Isn't that insane?
Stef has never had a weight problem (look at her body... you'd never guess she's had 4 kids in the last 7 years... yes 4 kids!!!)... one thing we discussed today during our visit was the concept of finishing all the food on your plate. Stef has never worried about if she finishes all the food on her plate or not. She'll eat until she feels like she's had enough. In the past, I've always finished everything on my plate, but I don't anymore. Often times when I go out to restaurants the portions are just too large for me to eat... so I don't finish them and I don't dwell on it either (like I used to). This has been a big hurdle for me, subconsciously I thought I was wasting food, now I don't give it a second thought... when I'm done... I'm done!
Over the last month... I've started to really notice the difference that weight loss has made on my quality of life. In addition to physically not recognizing my body anymore, my outlook on life and the choices I make on a daily basis have completely changed as well. Friday morning... I had a client meeting which was going to interfere with my morning workout routine... so I got up at 5:30am to do my cardio instead of missing it... there has never been a point in my life (until now) where I thought sane people would workout before sunrise! In addition to the time conflict of this meeting with my workout routine, I knew that I was going to be on the client site mid morning (snack time), so on the drive to their office I ate a handful of almonds and when I left I had an apple and plenty of water!
Honestly... it really doesn't take much more effort to be healthy... but you have to want to change your lifestyle so then it doesn't seem like a task. It takes more effort to get your mind around the fact that it's easy to make healthy choices then what is considered "easy choices". It is just as easy to bring a snack in the car then pull into Tim Hortons (actually it probably takes less time considering the line-ups a the drive through during "roll up the rim season")!

Lisa... I often think of you for inspiration... I remember the extra weight you had when we went to school together and I see your profile photo now and go... DAMN that girl looks good! I've thought of of you more than a few times while I was working out! Once Connor gets home... you can walk those hills in Mineville and burn off any extra prego weight! Look at Stef... her youngest is 8 months!
