Slowly becoming a cheetah (but never a cougar)...
This morning and couldn't find any of my work-out gear (a sign my house is in quite a mid-week state)... at first I couldn't find my camelbak (the kids always play with it because it's a backpack)... after searching the house (which felt like forever) I found it under the kitchen table on a chair (not where I put it yesterday). Then I couldn't find my iPod... it was on my desk under some client files... *arghhh* by the time I got ready to do my workout I think I probably burned 200 calories from the hunt for all my gear. To be honest... it made me a bit agitated (with no one to blame but myself)... so I decided I needed a bit harder work-out today to turn my mood around. I've been jogging intervals at the same steady pace for a few weeks... maybe I fell into a rut I'm not sure... but today I increased my speed from 5.3 to 5.5 and holy smokes... I think next week I'm going to put it up to 5.7... did I mention I love jogging?
I look forward to getting to full cheetah speed before I run in New York City... that means treadmill speed of 6.0... maybe 7.0 on crazy days (this will also help me to keep up with Gina in Central Park and hopefully avoid getting spotted as a slow easy target by muggers lurking in the bushes)!

To avoid shin splints and injury on my knees I've been going at a slower steady pace... (in my medical opinion) I think the muscles around my knees and legs have finally strengthened enough (plus with less weight to carry) that the faster speed may not leave me sore and in pain like it has in the past.
By just increasing my speed slightly... I increased my calories on the exact same interval work-out from about 850 to 1100 calories! I'm not joking... isn't that insane? Now I don't know if this was just a one-off... but I was very happy to see how much speed could increase my calorie burn! Did I mention everyone should have a Timex Ironman watch? hahahah *I really should get commission for these product plugs*
Right now Devin is reading this and saying "Does this girl ever listen to me?" *grin* He's been telling me to get my run up to 6.0 for some time now (more intense but shorter intervals)... so I guess I probably should turn it up and help give my metabolism a little boost especially since I suspect my weight loss will be slowing down soon as I get closer to my goal weight.
I only have 35lbs to reach my goal. Considering I have already lost 90lbs... I'm freakin' close to my goal... 3/4 of the way there (actually... I might go lower than my original goal... who knows)!
I'm still finding it hard to grasp that I will be the size I was in Junior High by the time I loose all my weight (but this time I'll have better hair and more self esteme)! I'm already smaller then I was in University and I'm pretty sure High School too. Of course I was an overweight teen, so even when I reach my goal it won't make me a wafer-teen like you see out there now at 105lbs... I'll have curves and of course an amazing booty (dimple free I might add). By spring I'll definitely be a small person... which I'm kind of excited about!
I have to give credit all the people out there supporting me (my peeps know who they are)... it really has helped me to achieve this new lifestyle. I'm at the point now with 6 months of running under my belt that I know... I will never become a sloth again... I much prefer living life then just going through the motions!
